The Friends of the Library (FOL) are dedicated to fostering a love of libraries, books
and reading in
the Volusia County area by community outreach, advocacy and support of
the Volusia County Public Library

The book store hours are:
9:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday.

The Friends of the Deland Library are looking for adult volunteers to work at our book store. Morning shifts are available from 9:00 to 12:30 or 12:30 to 3:30 Monday through Friday. Volunteers sort and sell books, CDs, DVDs and puzzles. Great way to meet people and provide quality community service.
Stop in and speak to Mary Baker, bookstore manager, Monday through Wednesday 9:30-3:30.

The Friends of the Deland Library are looking for a few men to help set up books for our monthly book sales. It will only take an hour from 11:30-12:30 on a Thursday ONCE a MONTH The dates are already set for the rest of the year.
We can also use help to close down the book sale by moving boxes of books back to a storage area on the following Saturday from 1:00 -2:00 ONCE A MONTH. If interested please stop in and meet with Mary, bookstore manager, Monday through Wednesday 9:30-3:30. Maybe your club or friends would like a service project.

Generous Donation:

The Friends of the Library have received a generous donation of 800 historical books about our American Presidents. Beginning from George Washington and continuing to Barack Obama the collection also has photos and an authentic program of the 1969 Inauguration. Every president is represented. All are for sale. Great collectibles.

The Friends of the DeLand Public Library enjoy an exceptional position in our community. Through our volunteer efforts and financial support, our members foster literacy, education and lifelong learning. We are a non-profit organization open to everyone who believes in a strong library system.

What do the Friends of the Library Do?
We sponsor programs to enhance the cultural awareness of the community as well as focus attention on the Library, such as author lectures, book signings, book discussions, exhibitions and special programming for adult and young readers;

  • Provide volunteers to run book sales and book store
  • Encourage memorials, endowments and gifts of all kinds to further enhance the Library's services.
