By-Laws Purposes and Powers
This organization is known as FRIENDS OF THE DELAND PUBLIC LIBRARY.
The organization is exclusively for educational, charitable, and scientific purposes. The objectives of this organization are:
- To assist in the promotion and development of public library facilities in DeLand, Florida
- To promote understanding of library services and needs
- To foster public support for the development of the DeLand Library
- To stimulate gifts of books, desirable collections, endowments, and bequests
- To operate a used book store at the DeLand Public Library
- To raise funds for DeLand Public Library equipment, programs, and services
Funded Programs
The following items were paid for with funds raised from membership, bookstore sales, contributions, bequests, monthly book sales and on-line book sales. The bookstore is staffed with volunteers 5 days a week, Monday through Friday 9:30-3:30
- Funded speakers, presenters, and library programs
- Paid for license for monthly movies at the library
- Purchased supplies related to library programs
- Provided books and subscriptions
- Initiated a Seed Library Program providing free seeds and information
- Purchased furniture and equipment including:
- Blue Tooth speaker for yoga, etc.
- kitchen cart for the "a la carte" cooking class
- 12 drawer rolling cart for craft supplies
- 2 tables for the seed library display
- wooden floor display case
- portable projector for library presentations
The Friends of the DeLand Library is a 501(c)(3) organization and can accept tax deductible donations
